Carbon Capture Is Expanding the Role of CEMS Beyond Emission Compliance

Carbon capture is creating a new role for Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS). Traditionally, CEMS have focused on measuring pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions for environmental compliance. However, as industrial decarbonization and carbon capture investments grow, continuous gas analysis is becoming increasingly important for monitoring CO₂ before and after capture, supporting carbon accounting, and verifying capture efficiency. the evolution of CEMS by increasing the need for accurate, real-time emissions monitoring across the carbon capture process. Measurement is no longer limited to the final stack. Monitoring systems are also becoming important at key points such as flue gas streams, pipelines, and storage infrastructure.
